About
A LITTLE ABOUT US
Vanessa
I was born in Brazil and moved to the United States at 12 days old. I grew up in West Palm Beach, FL. As any Floridian, I loved being outside and the beach was my playground. My love of travel began at a young age when I would travel with my family. Disney was also a huge part of my life growing up. We would take family trips to the parks every year.
I moved away from South Florida when I was 19 years old. At this point in my life, I embarked on a new chapter and joined the Army Reserves.
I went through basic training and additional schooling for about six months then moved to Orlando, FL for college. Those were definitely fun times in my life as college usually is. During this time, I also met Daniel and therefore a new chapter in life began. While together, we started traveling quite often every chance we could get. I also revamped my love for everything Disney as we began to frequent the parks often. In 2011, we were married in beautiful St. Augustine which will always have a place in my heart.
Shortly after, I decided to join the Air Force Reserves which eventually led us to move to Arizona. We had fallen in love with Arizona years prior on a road trip and had planned to one day move there. With a lot of luck, it happened quite sooner than we had imagined. By 2013 we were proud to be Arizona residents and soaking in the beauty of the nature around us. Aside from travel, we absolutely love the outdoors. Being so close to mountains with the amazing trails around us, we have drastically changed our lifestyle to encompass it all.
There have been so many changes in my life throughout the years. I love every bit of it. The good and the bad. Without even just one of those experiences, we wouldn’t be where we are.
Daniel
It was a warm Orlando night. I came into this world as a surprise. Not only to my father, but my mother as well. My mother woke up one night with terrible back pain and told my father to drive her to the hospital. After they arrived, blood-work and a checkup was completed. Shortly after, the doctor advised that she would be having a baby within an hour. When it came time to give birth, my mother had not gone to any classes and did not know how to push. With a bit of assistance, I came into this world.
My father asked two things of me growing up. To eat everything on my plate and to stay out of the house from 8am-5pm. Not in a negative way, but the way he was raised where boys should be outside playing and getting into adventures. Not sitting at home watching TV. Many of my adventures involved BMX bikes, woods, rivers, lakes, and swamps. Many of these moments would involve Florida wildlife including snakes and gators. Not to mention, the many bumps and bruises. Fortunately, there were no broken bones along the way.
I always imagined my life as a bridge that I would cross over every day with happiness on one side, fun on the other and adventures ahead. That was what I would picture in my mind with my mother and father every day. But when my father passed away when I was ten years old, the bridge collapsed and I could never make it to the other side where happiness, fun and adventures were at. After that, there was no playing outside and no more finishing my plate. My mother always wanted me close so I would not get in trouble.
At the age of 16 I purchased my first car. You would think at that time, I would want to drive around as far as I could possibly go discovering new places, but no. All I wanted to do was drive around with my friends. I never thought I would leave Orlando and did not want to leave. It was my home. At the time, I hated the beach and did not go to the theme parks. I thought my adventure days were over.
That is until I met Vanessa. Within the first 3 months of us dating, she planned a trip for us to New Orleans. I was very nervous and scared to leave Florida but with her by my side in her red Honda Accord, adventure was ahead. It took a few more years and lots of adventures for me to catch the travel bug. Now I can’t stop. That bridge has slowly rebuilt itself and I have been crossing it with Vanessa ever since.
The Littles
Minnie and Daisy (A.K.A. – The Littles) are the little gems in our life. They have brought us so much joy and happiness. These little troublemakers are part of our family and we couldn’t imagine ever being without them.
